Our story

Born in a workshop in the south of France.

Bulles d'Épices was born in Montpezat, in the south of France, in the hands of Laurent Doustaly. The son of a family of shepherds, he had been a shepherd himself in his youth near Sauve, at the foot of the Cévennes. He drew on his life and his childhood memories to create furniture with old-world charm.

Since 2009, every shelf has been made by hand in this workshop. Today, his family and a team of craftspeople carry on his know-how, piece after piece.

The wood and the stain

The wood is pine from co-managed forests. For the wood-finish shelves, the workshop uses walnut stain, a natural dye with no harmful chemicals, which oxidizes over time and gives the wood a vintage patina.

The charm of rural craftsmanship

In the old days, shepherds and country people made their own furniture from local wood. Our shelves keep that simplicity: clean lines, knots and imperfections left as they are, natural tones. Every piece is unique.
